GDC Celebrates Partnership with Gruppo Umana Solidarietà Italy: A Milestone in Migration Support
In 2017, Global Development Consortium(GDC) entered into a significant partnership agreement with Gruppo Umana Solidarietà “Guido Puletti” (GUS Italia) under the project “Back to the Future,” funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). This collaboration was established with the primary objective of providing Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) services to Third Country Nationals, particularly focusing on Bangladeshi citizens in Italy who seek to return to their homeland voluntarily.
The partnership underscores GDC’s commitment to enhancing fair and effective return strategies that contribute to combating irregular migration. With the project’s aim of fostering sustainable and effective return processes, GDC has played a pivotal role in supporting GUS Italia’s efforts to assist individuals in their reintegration journey.
Key Elements of the Partnership Agreement:
- Local Support: GDC serves as the local partner for AVRR applications submitted by Bangladeshi citizens, ensuring that their reintegration plans (Plans of Reintegration – POR) are tailored to meet individual needs.
- Financial Management: The agreement stipulates that for each beneficiary, GUS Italia will transfer a budget of 2,000 euros to GDC, which is utilized for procuring relevant goods and services as outlined in the POR. This financial assistance is crucial for facilitating successful reintegration.
- Monitoring and Reporting: GDC is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the POR, providing interim and final reports to GUS Italia, and ensuring compliance with the project’s monitoring procedures.
- Personalized Assistance: GDC is dedicated to providing beneficiaries with comprehensive reintegration support, including job opportunities, vocational training, education, medical assistance, and housing.
- Expanding Cooperation: As the project evolves, GDC remains committed to identifying and proposing new areas of cooperation in the fields of migration and development.
The agreement marked a significant step forward in GDC’s efforts to empower individuals seeking to return to Bangladesh, providing them with the necessary support to rebuild their lives.
Looking Forward
As we reflect on the achievements of this partnership since its inception, GDC is excited to continue working closely with GUS Italia. Together, we aim to create impactful solutions for migrants and refugees, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs addressed.
